About Zambia

Zambia is located south of the equator in the southern portion of Africa. Zambia is the size of Texas and is surrounded by eight countries: Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.




Zambia has a population of 14 million people. Many of them live in modern cities and many live in rural areas. There are 73 recognized tribes in Zambia and the same number of spoken tribal languages. They are friendly people and currently there is not any civil unrest.

English is the official language, though 2% of the population are native speakers.

There are many wild animals that live in Zambia. Some of them are elephants, zebras, ostriches, gazelles, giraffes, hippos, and crocodiles.




There are many lakes and rivers, in fact Victoria Falls is located in the southern portion of Zambia which flows into the Zambezi River which is how Zambia got its name.
